Cosmetic Acupuncture Details

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture (also called Facial Rejuvenation) is a specialised field of acupuncture aimed at naturally improving the appearance of your skin. It involves the treatment of facial wrinkles, fine lines, skin pigmentation, acne and scar tissue using special Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic skills and fine acupuncture needles. It is a subtle process that can potentially take the years off your face, safely and naturally, at the same time improving your body's overall health and vitality.

Acupuncture is part of the natural medical system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM has a recorded history dating back over 3000 years. During this time it has continued to develop into an extremely effective form of treatment that is today practised throughout the world and is recognised by the World Health Organisation.

Cosmetic Acupuncture aims to reduce the signs of ageing by both direct treatment to your face and also by addressing underlying health issues that may be contributing to the ageing signs forming on your face.

Who would benefit from Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Anyone concerned about looking and feeling their best and reducing the signs of ageing in their face. It is suitable for those with wrinkles, fine lines, bags under the eyes, sagging, puffiness, drooping eyelids, double chin, large pores, scarring, dry skin, pigmentation and those suffering from acne. Hair loss can also be addressed using cosmetic acupuncture techniques.

 How does it work?

By encouraging blood flow and the body's natural energy flow. Cosmetic acupuncture stimulates facial nerves, muscle fibres and collagen production, increases fluid metabolism and drainage, balances hormonal disturbances and regulates the body’s innate healing processes.

What about hair loss?

Acupuncture for hair loss includes TCM treatment sessions and also includes the use of a dermal hammer at home daily by the client. The improved circulation of blood and nutrient supply to the hair follicles has the potential to stimulate new cell growth which may assist in hair follicle stimulation and increased hair growth. This growth is usually apparent after 4 – 6 months of daily self treatment supported by TCM treatment sessions.

How soon can I expect to see results?

With each treatment you will notice your face looks fresher, your skin tone is tighter, your pores are minimised and your eyes sparkle. As the treatments progress you will notice more changes occurring gradually over the following sessions.

 What results can I expect?

Softening of fine lines and deeper wrinkles, smoothing of skin tone, rehydration of skin, tightening of pores, improved muscle tone, reduced puffiness and excess fluid, reduced dark circles, lifting of droopy eyelids, improved jaw line definition, reduction in acne, reduction in scar tissue and a general improvement in vitality of the face and eyes. Hair will look thicker, be shiner and healthy looking. New growth may also occur in areas previously experiencing hair loss. Each person is individual and your response to cosmetic acupuncture treatment will vary due to this.

Clients may also notice internal benefits including improved hormonal balances (including menopause and PMS symptoms such as hot flushes, irritability and “fog” brain), increased energy levels, improved sleep patterns, reduced sinus problems, improved digestion and reduction in feelings of stress levels.
